Luis Suarez Says This Superstar Is 'Always Welcome' In Barcelona's Dressing Room: Report
FC Barcelona star striker Luis Suarez reportedly has said that former teammate Neymar would “always be welcome” back at the club.
Brazil superstar Neymar was a member of Barcelona’s famous "MSN" front three alongside Lionel Messi and Suarez. During the trio's first season together, which was the 2014-15 campaign, the Catalans clinched the treble by winning their fifth Champions League trophy, La Liga and Copa del Rey before clinching the domestic double the following season.
In the middle of 2017’s pre-season, Neymar joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a record fee of $239.60 million. How his exit happened from Barcelona angered the fans and some of his Barca’s teammates too.
Unfortunately, Neymar has never seemed to have been happy in the French league and he has been constantly linked to a return to Nou Camp. While Messi has been pushing the La Liga champions to re-sign the Brazillian, now even Suarez has indicated that he has no problem if Neymar wants to come back to Barcelona.
“Everybody knows 'Ney', we all know the affection we have for him in the dressing room. His ability is indisputable and he still has so much to show. He will always be welcome in the changing room, we appreciate him a lot,” 33-year-old Suarez told Mundo Deportivo.
The Uruguayan also added that during the tough times of coronavirus pandemic, it was “complicated” to discuss players joining Barca.
“I can talk about players, and these are huge players," he said when asked to discuss the rumors linking Neymar with a Barca return.
Barca have also been trying to sign Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and the 22-year-old Argentine is being considered as a long-term replacement for Suarez, who has been suffering from injuries more often than before.
"Lautaro is a player who is progressing in Italy, he is a flexible center-forward, with spectacular moves and that shows what a great striker he is,” Suarez added further in the interview.
