Luka Doncic Addresses Issues That Arose In Stunning Game 6 Victory

The Dallas Mavericks are on the verge of upsetting the heavily-favored Phoenix Suns after winning Game 6 by 27 points.

The team's talisman in Luka Doncic took some time to address the media’s questions about some interesting storylines that came out of it.

Doncic was asked about the thigh issue that came up during the game which the broadcast team noted as the Slovenian was seen being brought to the back for evaluation by the training staff.

“Yeah, I just felt some little pop from the beginning then when I warmed up, it was kind of okay. But now, it’s a little bit worse, but it’s nothing serious,” said the young superstar.

When further pressed for comments if it would affect his level of play in Game 7, Doncic simply mentioned that there would be no issues moving forward.

With elimination from the playoffs staring them in the face, Doncic put together a 33-point, 11-rebound double-double plus four steals and eight assists to propel the Mavericks to the win.

His supporting cast of Reggie Bullock, Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie came through with 19, 18 and 15 points respectively.

Later on, the topic of trash talking came up and Doncic just acknowledged that it was and will always be part of a basketball game.

“I like when people [do] trash talk to me. It gets me going. It’s fun, it’s basketball. There’s going to be a lot of trash talking and I like it. It’s fun for me. It’s competitive basketball and I like it,” Doncic noted with much light-heartedness.

Trash-talking became a major point in this series after Suns superstar Devin Booker fell to the floor on a play during Game 5 and stayed there for a while, ultimately uttering the words “Luka special,” mocking Doncic’s penchant for staying on the floor after a foul.

Doncic, a professional basketball player since he was 16 years old, was caught on camera as the Mavericks were headed to the locker room after Game 5 and said that “everybody’s acting tough when they’re up,” possibly in reference to Booker’s consistent trash-talking and comments mentioned above.

With Doncic and the Mavericks exacting revenge on Booker and the Suns, Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Sunday, May 15 becomes a matchup to look forward to.
