  • Lukas Gage didn't hear any word from the director who dissed his tiny apartment in the viral video

  • Gage said he had worse auditions before, but that one just so happened to be caught on camera

Lukas Gage didn't hear anything from the director who dissed his tiny apartment after the incident.

The "Euphoria" star went viral last year after sharing a Zoom audition video in which a director was caught on a hot mic criticizing his tiny apartment. Gage appeared on "Andy Cohen Live" on SiriusXM Wednesday and he was asked about the incident.

"I didn't hear anything from him personally," Gage said in the interview as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

"Wow, that's interesting," Cohen responded.

The director involved in the video was Tristram Shapeero. In the clip, he could be seen talking to another person on the Zoom call and Gage could hear their conversation clearly as the British director wasn't on mute.

"These poor people live in these tiny apartments. Like, I’m looking at his background and he’s got his TV, and you know," the director said.

"Ooh," Gage interjected while smiling. "Yeah, mute it. I know it’s a s—ty apartment, so give me this job so I can get a better one."

"Oh, my god. I am so so sorry," the director replied.

The director issued a mea culpa via Deadline after the video went viral. Also, he immediately apologized to Gage in the video after the latter pointed out that he could hear him because he was not on mute.

Cohen asked Gage why he had a copy of the video in the first place. According to the actor, everyone records their auditions in case they need them later. He also told the host there were worse instances, but that one just happened to be on camera.

The "White Lotus" star decided to share it after he and his co-star Molly Shannon talked about their worst auditions. He showed Shannon the video and she encouraged him to post it.

"I just thought it was so funny and I had it lingering on my phone, but I was kind of scared. I didn't want to get canceled for posting it, but I was just like, people are going to relate to this. It's funny. It's ridiculous," Gage continued.

"I was having some drinks with Molly and we were talking about our worst audition stories, and I showed her this video and… she just basically told me you have to post it. I mean, actors will relate to it. And then I woke up from a nap and I had like 50,000 friend requests and like 300 missed calls and thought I've ruined my life, but it was great."

In the same interview, Gage shared another horrible audition story. According to him, when he was 15, went to a commercial audition and was told to get a nose job and lose 15 pounds. When he turned 18 he started to question why he was doing it and decided to stop auditioning for commercials.
