Lululemon is heading into the shoe business.

The apparel retailer announced its entrance into the footwear market on Tuesday with a new running shoe for women dubbed Blissfeel.

The new running shoe will be available online and in select stores in North America, Mainland China, and the U.K., starting on March 22. The price of the shoes will be $148, CNBC reported.

To develop the shoes, Lululemon leveraged its 20-plus years of design experience to understand “how women uniquely move and want to feel,” the company said.

“We intentionally started with women first because we saw an opportunity to solve for the fact that, more often than not, performance shoes are designed for men and then adapted for women,” Sun Choe, Lululemon chief product officer, said in a statement.

“That didn’t sit well with us. Innovating for women is in Lululemon’s DNA—now we’re bringing that same expertise to footwear, and women were part of this journey every step of the way,” Choe added.

Lululemon said it will also debut three additional shoe styles in the coming months – Chargefeel, Strongfeel, and Restfeel.

Each shoe will be created with a specific feeling, featuring different upper materials, foam compounds, construction methods, and colors, which Lululemon said will provide “the perfect balance of cushioning and support.”

The Blissfeel running shoe will launch in 10 colors with an energy-filled underfoot foam cushioning technology for an “effortless and blissful” feeling when running.

When launched in summer, the Chargefeel cross-training shoe will be designed for gym training and short runs with a dual-density midsole for energy dampening and return with an upper that is equipped for midfoot lockdown, Lululemon said.

Also coming in summer, the Restful sneaker will be an elevated post-workout slide that the retailer said will have an “unparalleled feel and aesthetic.

The Strongfeel is a training shoe that will debut in fall for multi-directional movement with a low profile, supportive midsole, and a multi-directional outsole that has an upper to lock the foot in place.

The cross-training sneakers will be priced at $138 and $148, with the slide-on shoe costing $58 and the training shoe having a price tag of $128, CNBC said.

Lululemon said it will also roll out a men’s footwear collection in 2023 with special edition and seasonal introductions as it grows the collection in the future.
