Lunch With Warren Buffett Auctioned Off For $3.5M
Warren Buffett can afford to lay down hunks of cash for a really nice meal at a swanky restaurant. But how much money would you spend to have lunch with the Nebraska billionaire?
One affluent fan agreed to spend $3.5 million dollars for a lunch date with the investor during a charity auction, according to the Associated Press.
Every year, Buffett agrees to auction off his time for the Glide Foundation, which helps the homeless in San Francisco. Over the past 13 years, Buffett has raised more than $11.5 million for the nonprofit group. The annual fundraiser contributes a major portion to the organization's budget.
The Gilde Foundation said Friday's big winner wished to remain anonymous, but it said that 10 people actively bid in the contest. Bids reportedly jumped from $1 million to $3.46 million during the final hour of the auction.
The restaurant where said lunch will occur is also unknown, but the wealthy bidder will get the rare opportunity to chat with Buffett about the hottest investment opportunities.
