Culkin just turned 40 years old this year and he announced it on his social media account as a stark reminder of how time flies fast. Fans of the child star instantly felt nostalgia and his post quickly became viral. Culkin played the role of Kevin McCallister in the “Home Alone” movies that launched his career to superstardom when he was just 10 years old.

He started his Twitter post with "Hey guys, wanna feel old?" to tease fans who had never really gotten over his performance as the kid who had to be creative and mischievous in order to fend off repeated burglar attacks. He appeared in several movies after “Home Alone” but his acting never really stood out as much as when he played Kevin McCallister, according to CNN.

The massive success of the first film in 1990 was the reason why the second movie “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” was released in 1992. Just like the first installment, which raked in more than $476 million worldwide, “Home Alone 2” was also a global hit with more than $358 million global box office record, a report from The Numbers revealed. Considering both movies were produced with no bigger than $20 million budget, Culkin really laughed his way to the bank at the time.

His pay for the first “Home Alone” film was $100,000 which increased to $4.5 million for “Home Alone 2.” He appeared in three other movies after, culminating with “Richie Rich” in 1994, in which he received an $8 million paycheck, per Celebrity Net Worth.

The Manhattan, New York City native stayed away from the limelight and only appeared in personal projects as an adult. He started a band called The Pizza Underground but the group split ways in 2016. He then busied himself producing web content, appearing on TV shows and starting a podcast. Even though he only had small projects since “Home Alone,” it did not affect his net worth. The 40-year-old has an estimated fortune of $18 million.

On the personal side, he was once engaged to actress Mila Kunis. The two were in a relationship for eight years. Kunis is now married to actor Ashton Kutcher. Meanwhile, Culkin has moved on and is now dating actress Brenda Song. He splits his time staying in his apartments in New York and Paris.
