Aunt Gwendolyn is a recurring character in the show, TV Insider reported. Promo pictures of the next episode that have been released online show the first meeting of the two characters. The photos tease how Mac will be shocked by the unexpected family reunion.

Mac’s aunt is an ex-DXS agent who was presumed dead, executive producer Peter Lenkov teased. She is Mac’s mother’s sister and she has been keeping an eye on him from the shadow all these years when he thought she was dead.

How will Gwendolyn’s story be connected to the plot of “MacGyver” Season 4, episode 8? There is a reason why the character is surfacing now after all these years. She is suspected to be the head of Codex. The main plot of this season has been about the agents going after Codex, but that chase will result in some unexpected twists.
