Macho Man: You were my childhood hero
The stunning death of Macho Man Randy Savage is being felt across the world. Fellow wrestlers in particular are reeling after learning of the heartbreaking loss of an icon at the age of 58.
You were one of my childhood inspirations and heros, posted Dwayne Johnson on his twitter page, also known as The Rock.
Wrestling fans will remember Savage for his dramatic flair on the wrestling stage. Non-wrestling fans will no doubt recall his memorable commercial Slim-Jims, where his catch phrase line, Snap into a Slim-Jim-Ooh Yeah, won't soon be forgotten.
I'm completely devastated, said Hulk Hogan on his twitter page. He had so much life in his eyes & in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him.
Hogan, in particular, was estranged from Savage and had only recently begun in touch with the Macho Man, before his death.
Savage himself had stayed away from the wrestling world during the last years of his life, but still maintained some close friendships.
I lost a close friend today...Love you Bro. Never another, said WWE superstar Kevin Nash.
Still, the wrestling world always remembered what the Macho Man brought to the arena.
Said Nash: If anybody in heaven is wondering who the cat in the ugly cowboy hat is it's Randy.
