Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in a still from "Mad Max: Fury Road." Their stunt doubles, Dane and Dayna Grant, recently revealed they met on the set of the George Miller movie. The couple now have a 1-year-old son. Warner Bros.

Witness! Not everything leading to the gates of Valhalla is dead or dying. For two “Mad Max: Fury Road” stunt doubles, it was a place of love, camaraderie and impeccable timing. And the occasional death-defying romp on a war rig for dates.

The stunt doubles for “Mad Max: Fury Road” stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, Dane Grant and Dayna Porter (now Grant), fell in love “at first sight.” The native New Zealanders found each other on set fairly easily, as Dane Grant told Stuff. Recalling meeting his partner for the first time, he said, “She was the only girl from New Zealand and she stood out like a sore thumb.”

Both are pros in the field. Dayna cut her teeth on the “Xena” and “Hercules” series, and is currently shooting a TV show, “Ash vs. the Evil Dead.” Dane is a relative newcomer to the stunting trade after time as a roaming adventurer and scuba instructor. The couple have a son, Ryder, and run a stunt school together when not on location.

“While we were punching each other we were falling for each other – quite rapidly," Dane told the outlet. He reiterated the pleasures of having a partner in the same profession, someone who understood the work stress and could take turns for projects and child care. “We can almost dictate when we want to take a job or have a break."

The couple shared photos of their time on set around the time of the film’s release:

There’s a chance the two may meet on the “Fury Road” once again. With the fourth “Mad Max” movie making a splash at the box office, it’s possible that a fifth film may be in the works. Both director George Miller and star Tom Hardy have voiced interest in continuing the rebooted franchise.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” opened in theaters May 15.
