‘Mad Men’ Season 7 Spoilers: Episode 4 Synopsis Leaked Online; What Will Happen In ‘The Monolith’?

“Mad Men” will be returning to the small screen with its third episode of Season 7 on Sunday. And while we’re excited to see what will happen when “Field Trip” airs, the AMC drama has us looking even further into the future after the network released the synopsis for episode 4, “The Monolith.”

But before we dive into the vague summary we know Matthew Weiner has left for us, let’s talk about the interesting title he gave the May 4 episode. What exactly is a "Monolith" anyway? A monolith is a geological feature that consists of a single massive stone or rock such as mountains or even a monument of building. Thanks to erosion, the geological formations are exposed, showing that they are made of very hard and solid metamorphic or igneous rock.

Monumental Monolith – Aztec Calendar Stone “Stone of the Sun”

What does this have to do with “Mad Men”? We’ll try not to leave any stone unturned as we explore the synopsis of episode 4. According to the network, Sterling Cooper & Partners will prepare for a guest during episode 4, Don will contact an old friend, Roger will deal with problems at home and Peggy will be underestimated.

Typical. There’s never any meat to “Mad Men” teasers. Out of the entire synopsis, it’s Don’s plot that intrigues us the most. Who is he going to get a hold of? Will it be a friend at Sterling Cooper or perhaps a lady from his past? Recently we predicted that Don and Sylvia would reunite in episode 3 because of the trailer. In the promo released online, we hear Don talking to a mystery person on the other side of the line.

“Are you there?” he asks. The next thing we see is Don solemnly hanging up the phone. Could Sylvia be on the other line? We know for a fact that Linda Cardellini’s character will be reprised in Season 7, but we're not sure when she’ll make her debut.
