‘Mad Men’ Season Six: Photos Leaked From Hawaii Shoot
Photographs from Matthew Weiner’s “secretive two-day shoot” with “Mad Men” stars Jon Hamm and Jessica Pare, leaked on Thursday, confirming some spoilers for the show’s coming sixth season.
Two weeks ago, Deadline reported that the Draper newlyweds, played by Hamm and Pare, would be heading to Hawaii with a small crew for secretive photo shoot on the island. The blog speculated that the reason for the secrecy may have been in part because Lionsgate TV, the company that produces the AMC period drama and oversees its budget, had not approved the shoot.
But now that cat is apparently out of the bag, after stills leaked by Fameflynet seemed to confirm the rumor. In the new stills, published by Vanity Fair, fans can catch a glimpse of Don and Megan catching some rays on the beach.
In one photo, Don and Megan stand on the beach, Megan in a purple floral string bikini, and Don in bright red swim trunks revealing a tan line. In another, Megan gazes adoringly at Don, from behind a lavender floppy hat and Iris Apfel-esque circular glasses, while Don smokes a cigarette and reads a paperback copy of Dante’s “The Inferno.”
The photos may prompt a sigh of relief for some Megan Draper fans anxious about the future of her and Don’s relationship after the end of last season. The fifth season of “Mad Men” followed Megan as she quit her job as a recently promoted copywriter at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce to pursue a career in acting. But Megan’s career shift inevitably causes friction between her and Don, despite his help in landing her a role in a “Beauty and the Beast” inspired commercial for Butler shoes.
Although Don agrees to use his leverage get Megan the job, he seems disappointed in her decision “to be somebody’s discovery, not somebody’s wife,” and the season finale cuts away to Don drinking alone in a bar while Megan primps for the commercial.
However, the photo shoot seems to imply that at the very least the couple is still working on reviving the marriage.
