'Madden NFL 21' Reveals Highest Rated and Fastest QBs

“Madden NFL 21” has partnered with ESPN to reveal several player ratings for this year’s edition of the popular game from 2K Sports. It hardly comes as any surprise that the first player given the near-perfect 99-rating is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes the quarterback of the Super Bowl LIV Champion Kansas City Chiefs, led his team to its first Super Bowl victory in 50 years this past February via a 31-20 romp over the San Francisco 49ers. He also emerged as the top-rated quarterback for “Madden NFL 21” as the top 10 highest-rated quarterbacks were revealed.

GameSpot reports that Seattle Seahawks leader Russell Wilson followed Mahomes with a 97 rating, then it was “Madden NFL 21” cover athlete Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens with a 94. Rounding out the top 5 are New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees with a 93 and former New England Patriot-turned Tampa Bay Buccaneer starter Tom Brady with a 90 overall rating.

At 42-years-old, it’s a pretty high compliment from the people at 2K Sports to rate Brady this high, but after winning six Super Bowls, it’s hard to argue that Brady doesn’t deserve it even though this will be his first season playing outside the Patriots’ system.

Surprisingly, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers missed getting a 90, instead landing with an 89. He was followed by Atlanta Hawks starter Matt Ryan with an 87, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson with an 86, Dallas Cowboys signal caller Dak Prescott with an 84, and Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz with an 84.

Although Mahomes is the highest-rated quarterback overall, the number one quarterback in terms of speed with a 96 is Lamar Jackson. In only his rookie season, Jackson amassed 1,206 rushing yards to break Michael Vick’s record for most rushing yards by a QB in a single season in NFL history.

The highest-rated rookie running backs have also been announced with former Ohio State Buckeye JK Dobbins topping the list with a 75 rating, says GameSpot. Dobbins was the 55^th player picked in the 2020 NFL Draft and will see action beside Jackson for the Ravens when the NFL season begins.

“Madden NFL 21” is coming on August 28 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will also be coming to the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X, with free upgrades for current-gen owners through EA's Dual Entitlement program.
