Original story:
Ahead of Maddie Ziegler’s appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Friday, her “Dance Moms” co-stars told fans of their hit Lifetime reality series to tune in to hear a “big announcement.” As per usual, Maddie, 12, did perform alongside pop singer Sia during the appearance, but as promised, that wasn’t all that was in store for their dual performance.
Following Sia’s serenade of her latest single “Elastic Heart” — Maddie danced front and center inside the confines of a white box while Sia covered her face with her signature platinum blonde hair — the singer announced that should would be performing onstage at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The highly-private songstress is nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video.
“You have an announcement, right? About the Grammys?” DeGeneres asked Sia.
“Oh yeah. I forgot! That I’m going to do a performance … That’s the announcement!” Sia said, as Maddie clapped in approval.
“You are actually going to do a performance on the Grammys. It’s exciting!” DeGeneres added.
So will Maddie make an appearance at the Grammys? While the 39-year-old Australian hitmaker did not confirm whether Maddie will perform alongside of her at the 57th annual awards show, her history with the Lifetime star makes it easy to assume she will most likely make another appearance with Sia.
For the past year, Maddie has served as Sia’s protégé. She has starred in two of Sia’s wildly popular music videos, 2014’s “Chandelier” and most recently, “Elastic Heart” with actor Shia LaBeouf. The young reality star has also accompanied Sia on several television appearances, including “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “Saturday Night Live.”
The 2015 Grammy Awards airs Sunday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. “Dance Moms” is currently in its fifth season. New episodes air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
