Maddie Ziegler To Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’ With Sia, ‘Dance Moms’ Star Teases Performance Plans
Maddie Ziegler and pop singer Sia Furler are at it again. Following the controversy surrounding the new “Elastic Heart” music video, the “Dance Moms” reality star and the Australian hit-maker will be taking their talents to “Saturday Night Live” this week.
This will be Sia's first appearance on "SNL" on Saturday, Jan. 17, and Maddie will join the musical host onstage. “Yes miss @maddieziegler will be one of my co-performers on 'Saturday Night Live' #SNL SQUEEEEEEEEE! ” the pop singer posted on Twitter Jan. 6. Will fellow “Elastic Heart” star Shia LaBeouf also pop up on the show?
“Dance Moms” coach Abby Lee Miller also dropped a hint last week about Maddie's appearance on "SNL." “Live from The Abby Lee Dance Company, it’s @madisonziegler1313,” Miller said in an Instagram post alongside a photo collage of Maddie sporting her famous platinum blonde wig and tan bodysuit.
The "Elastic Heart" video released Jan. 7 depicts LaBeouf, 28, and Maddie, 12, battling each other in a giant bird cage in what some have said had perverted overtones. She recently discussed a range of subjects including the video and her upcoming “SNL” gig with Entertainment Weekly magazine. “To be honest with you, I really don’t know,” Maddie said of Sia’s plans for their guest spot on SNL. “I know I’m probably gonna dance.”
This isn't the first time that Maddie and Sia, 39, have appeared on television together. Maddie has also appeared in another Sia music video -- “Chandelier” -- now at 457 million views on YouTube, and last year they appeared together on “Dancing with the Stars,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Prior to the release of the “Elastic Heart” video, Maddie danced to the song onstage at CBS Radio’s "We Can Survive" concert held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 24. Maddie even missed a Season 5 taping of “Dance Moms” to perform at the concert. Check out a video of her performance here.
Comedian Kevin Hart, who stars in the new film, "The Wedding Ringer," will serve as "SNL" host for a second time this weekend. The 40th season episode will air Saturday on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EST. Check out a promo for the show below.
