Maddie Ziegler vs. Chloe Lukasiak: 'Dance Moms' Stars Receive Same Teen Choice Award Nomination
It looks like former “Dance Moms” competitors Chloe Lukasiak and Maddie Ziegler will, once again, be going head-to-head. On Wednesday, Fox announced its second wave of nominees for the 2015 Teen Choice Awards. In the “Choice Dancer” category, both Chloe, 14, and Maddie, 12, are nominated.
The “Dance Moms” stars took to social media to tout their nominations on Wednesday. While both appeared honored by the recognition, their nominations are not exactly a surprise. Fans of the Lifetime reality series have been campaigning for the reality stars to be nominated in the fan-voted competition since May.
While Maddie’s mom, Melissa Gisoni, has not commented on the big news, Chloe’s mom and former co-star, Christi Lukasiak, has thanked fans for her daughter’s nomination.
So who will win? Chloe left “Dance Moms” in October 2014, but based on her fan-voted nomination, it’s clear she has remained connected to her “Dance Moms” supporters. In recent months, she has starred in several music videos and has become a recognized personality on YouTube. She is currently on tour overseas hosting dance workshops and fan meets and greets.
On the other hand, Maddie is currently starring on the fifth season of the Lifetime series alongside her mother and sister, Mackenzie Ziegler, 11. She has also starred in several high-profile music videos, including Sia’s “Chandelier.” More recently, she performed at the 2015 Grammys and became one of the faces of Capezio dance wear.
Of course, it is worth noting that neither of the girls could end up winning. The other nominees in the Teen Choice Awards “Choice Dancer” category are Stephen “Twitch” Boss and his wife, Allison Holker, both of “So You Think You Can Dance”; “Dancing With the Stars” professional Derek Hough; and Les Twins.
Voting for the second wave of nominees is currently open. Find out how to vote here. The winner will be revealed during the 2015 Teen Choice Awards Sunday, Aug. 16 on Fox.
