Madeleine McCann Update: Investigation Surrounding Prime Suspect's Link To Case Will Not Continue Indefinitely
Madeleine McCann's 2007 disappearance has resurfaced in the news lately after the identification of Christian Brückner as the prime suspect, but now it appears as though the open investigation surrounding "Christian B" may end down the road with or without an official conclusion.
During a recent discussion, lead prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters revealed that while police believe that Brückner did, in fact, take the 3-year-old from her parents' hotel room in Praia da Luz, Portugal, law enforcement officials do not intend on indefinitely seeking new information.
"Of course we have an interest in keeping our suspect in custody," Wolters said, as reported by The Sun, adding, "This gives us access to interrogations in the event of an indictment."
However, he then stated, "We have no endeavors to drag this out unnecessarily. We’ll draw a line at some point and see."
Brückner's ties to the McCann case have also been discussed in a range of other ways throughout recent months after he was linked to the ongoing investigation.
Aside from the public connection to the McCann case, Brückner himself has also been discussed in recent months. Not only have some said that he once "freaked out" when the missing toddler's name was mentioned, but a former friend also revealed that he had once had an obsession with the dark web. In addition to the firsthand accounts, other reports have indicated that while incarcerated for an unrelated crime he has refused to cooperate and has stated his innocence through his attorney.

As for what pieces of information could influence the case moving forward, a recent search of nearby wells could potentially provide new details about what transpired when Madeleine was taken from Kate and Gerry McCann's hotel room that evening. However, other hurdles, such as disagreements over a DNA sample have also emerged in recent weeks.
