Madeline Marx, Ohio Substitute Teacher, Indicted For Having Sex With Teen Students
A 23-year-old Kettering Fairmont High School substitute teacher who was charged with having sex with two male teenage students has been indicted on two counts of sexual battery, Friday.
The teacher, Madeline J. Marx of Brookville, Ohio, had also been accused of sending nude pictures to one of the teens, according to a report by WHIO TV. The case is due in court on Nov. 30, the report said.
Marx was arrested Nov. 8. The police removed her from Fairmont High School in Kettering, where she was a substitute teacher for two years. Marx had confessed to having sexual relationships with multiple students. She has been released on bond and has been ordered not to contact the two students.
According to various reports, a 17-year-old student had told the police that he was given oral sex by the teacher on July 19 in the parking lot of Big Lots on Wilmington Pike. Another 16-year-old boy also told the police that he had intercourse with the substitute teacher on Sept. 21 in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Smithville Road, according to court documents.
According to the New York Post, Marx pleaded not guilty after her arrest.
The Dayton Daily News reported that Marx had graduated in 2012 from Chaminade Julienne High School in Dayton. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She scored a 3.58 grade-point average, and spent several terms on the Dean’s List.
Marx worked at the Flyer Spirit store as sales associate, manager on duty and custom clothing manager from June 2012 until December 2015. Marx was granted a 4-year resident education intervention specialist license for K-12 on June 30, 2016.
Before teaching at Fairmont High School, Marx was a teacher at Beverly Gardens Elementary School in the Mad River School District from September 2015 until May 2016.
She also claims to have field experience at Huber Heights Wayne High School in January 2015, River’s Edge Montessori elementary school in September 2014, John Hole Elementary School in Centerville in January 2014 and Frank Nicholas Elementary School in West Carrollton, Ohio, in September 2013.
Marx also explained that she had been a respite care provider for a 16-year-old child with cerebral palsy.
In another incident in October, a Maine high school health teacher was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. The teacher was indicted on more than a dozen sex-related counts.
According to CBS News, the police said that 29-year-old Jill Lamontagne of Kennebunk High School turned herself in after being indicted by a York County grand jury. She has been charged with six counts of gross sexual assault, two counts of unlawful sexual contact and six counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
She was released on bail and is due in court on Dec. 22.
