Taylor Swift has made American Music Awards history by becoming the most awarded artist of all time. The previous record-holder was none other than the king of pop, Michael Jackson, who had 24 overall wins. At this year’s AMAs, Swift knocked it out of the park with 29.

Swift’s wins for 2019 include Artist of the Decade, Favorite Album - Pop-Rock, Favorite Music Video (“You Need To Calm Down”), Favorite Female Artist - Pop-Rock, Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary, and Artist of the Year. That is a win for every category she was nominated for.

According to Billboard, she also broke records within some of the aforementioned categories. This is her second year winning Best Pop/Rock Female Artist in a row, the first to do so since Celine Dion in 1998 and 1999. However, this is her fourth time winning in this category, making her tied with Whitney Houston and Olivia Newton-John.

Swift also has another thing in common with the king of pop Jackson, as this is her third win in the Pop/Rock Album category, tying her with Jackson and Justin Bieber.

Swift was of great focus during the AMAs on Sunday, Nov. 24, as she was joined on stage by Halsey and Camila Cabello for a special performance to commemorate her Artist of the Decade award. The journey through her career concert included her greatest hits, old and new, from “Love Story” to “Lover.”

Swift has recently been in an ongoing battle with Big Machine Records over the rights to her old music. During one of her acceptance speeches, she acknowledged the drama: “The last year of my life has had some of the most amazing and some of the hardest things I’ve gone through.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, she also announced earlier this year that her mother is, once again, battling with cancer.
