Valdosta's wide-receiver/corner back, Malcom Mitchell committed himself to University of Gerogia at the Hibachi restaurant on Thursday night. His Valdosta team-mate, Jay Rome, also opted for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Mitchell is one of the hottest prospects in the game, and a crowded Hibachi restaurant anxiously waited on his decision. A difficult decision, as he had to choose between other schools which offered him a scholarship such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Both Mitchell and Rome had cut down their choices to two - Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tides.

The official signing day is on February 2. However, this can still be looked upon as a 2-0 win for Georgia over Alabama as Mitchell is No. 4-rated prospect in Georgia while Rome is No. 8 according to the Rivals.com top 100's latest stats.

Rome had made his decision a week back, but the race for Mitchell went down to the last lap as he was visited by delegates from both teams right till Thursday morning.

Rome said, I think I'm going to stay in state and go to Georgia. Georgia's a great school, has a great football history. People call it 'Tight End U.' Just at the end of the day, it just felt like I wanted to stay home, stay in state and get all the in-state love.

The 6'foot, 185-pound speedster Mitchell told the DawgPost.com, When it comes down to it, I wanted to be at Georgia. I was a little edgy about Georgia before my official (visit). But it just felt right. Alabama was in the lead the entire time. I would like to thank those coaches, too.

However, Alabama will now try to land the highly rated pair of Erique Florence, the Valley's DB and Columbia's DL Tim Jernigan.
