Mama June Being ‘Monitored’ After Crack Cocaine Arrest With Boyfriend Geno
Mama June Shannon got in big trouble last week when she and boyfriend Geno Doak were arrested in Alabama for drug-related charges. The reality star has already been released, but she is being closely monitored at present.
On Tuesday, WE tv officially released a statement on Twitter to assure fans of “Mama June: From Not to Hot” that it is doing its best to closely monitor the star of the reality show and her family and secure their well-being amid this difficult time.
“We share our viewers’ concerns for June Shannon and her entire family. We are monitoring events as they occur and are focused, as always, on the entire family’s well-being,” the network wrote.
Ever since Mama June's arrest was revealed over the weekend, many viewers of the show have been expressing their concerns over Mama June’s children, especially Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who is just 13 years old.
“Couple of crackheads. Who takes care of Alana? I see her writing a book when she’s 18,” Twitter user Vanessa Julia Lutz commented on TMZ’s leaked footage of Mama June and Geno spending time at a casino days after the arrest.
A poll conducted by Reality TV Polls on Twitter showed that fans are torn on who should take care of Alana amid Mama June’s latest run in with the law. Fans equally think that either older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon or Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson should step in.
But it is worth noting that Honey Boo Boo and Sugar Bear do not really have a good relationship at present. When Alana stopped by OK! Magazine for an interview this week, she exposed her father’s dirty laundry by disclosing that he hasn’t been seeing and talking to her regularly and that he doesn’t pay attention to her because she’s “not a boy.”
It appears Mama June’s arrest with Geno could also be the reason why Lauryn and Alana are the ones doing the promotions for her reality show. Mama June’s daughters also did an interview with Cheddar before the Season 3 premiere and Pumpkin revealed at the time that the all-new installement will shed light on their family and financial problems.
County Sheriff Andre Brunson told Alabama News Network that Mama June and Geno were arrested at the Sunoco gas station in Franklin, Alabama last Wednesday. The officer said that they got a call about a domestic dispute at the gas station and they found the couple in Mama June’s truck when they arrived.
Cops found a needle, a pipe with a residue and a pill bottle with white powder, which Mama June admitted was crack cocaine. The two were arrested, but Mama June was released on bond that night. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Geno was released the following day, but he was charged with domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
