Mama June On Choosing Between Her Daughters And Boyfriend Geno Doak: ‘It’s A No-Brainer’

Mama June Shannon has revealed that if she were asked to choose, she’d definitely pick her daughters Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird over her boyfriend Geno Doak.

Two years ago, Mama June walked away from her kids when she and Geno were struggling pretty badly with drug addiction. But now that she is sober, she’s made it clear that she’s choosing her children over her lover no matter what.

“It’s a no-brainer. You always pick your kids,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight hours before her new show, “Mama June: Road to Redemption,” premiered on We TV on Friday. “Men come and go. Kids and some family always stay.”

As of late, Mama June is living with Geno as she remains estranged from her children. Lauryn, 21, was given legal guardianship over Alana, 15, after their mother was arrested in Alabama with her boyfriend in March 2019 for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

The premiere episode of “Mama June: Road to Redemption” did show Mama June struggling to regain the trust of her daughters even after completing rehab with Geno.

Pumpkin even slammed her own mother and Geno on the show when she said that despite getting arrested, the couple did drugs, acted like fools and blew all of Mama June’s money — something that Mama June herself confirmed ahead of the series premiere.

Mama June recently dropped a bombshell when she revealed that she spent almost $1 million on drugs at the height of her addiction. She even disclosed that at one point, she sent her dealer $80,000 in a single mobile app transaction just to get some dope for her and her beau.

Mama June has been sober for 14 months now, and she’s doing everything to win back her daughters’ affection and trust. In a teaser clip the matriarch shared on her Instagram, she is seen meditating with Geno by the beach and calling Pumpkin through a phone to tell her that she’s changed for the better.

“Hey Pumpkin! It’s your mama again. I’m at a beach meditating, so I’m a totally changed person,” she tells her daughter in the snippet. Unfortunately, the clip doesn’t show Pumpkin’s response to her mother.
