Mama June Shannon has once again insisted that her reality show is not going off the air anytime soon even though she previously revealed that her and her family’s careers as reality stars could be coming to an end soon.
The 41-year-old We TV star took to Instagram Friday to give her fans a video recap of the ninth episode of her show “Mama June: Road To Redemption.” But aside from sharing her thoughts and discussing each segment of the episode, she also took the opportunity to reassure fans that she is not bidding goodbye to reality TV anytime soon.
“[We] want to let y’all know that we are not going off TV right now and there is still three more episodes left in this season,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “This season 5 will last til June 11th.”
Mama June made the clarification after she herself caused many fans to assume that the ongoing season of their show was going to be the last time that they’d see them on the small screen.
Apparently, when she and her daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 21, and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 15, did an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight on May 20, the controversial matriarch insinuated that their careers as reality stars could be coming to an end soon.
“I do feel like it may be close to the time for us to just kind of, kind of like the Kardashians, to just bow out and say, 'Thank you, we appreciate it.' You know, we may have, like, one more season in us, and ... at that point, what more is there to film?” she said in the interview.
Pumpkin then chimed in saying she’s fine with them walking away from reality TV since she has been thinking of pursuing a career as a nurse and living a normal life with her family for a while now.
After the interview aired, Mama June quickly took to social media to talk to her fans after receiving a lot of messages asking about their reality series possibly ending. In her post, she stated that she and her family “are not going anywhere” and added that she’ll be the first to let everyone know if they decide to take their life “off the TV.”
Mama June’s latest Instagram update comes a few days after Honey Boo Boo showed off her natural look in a makeup-free selfie she shared online. In her caption, she slammed the haters by saying that she doesn’t care about what they say because it’s her life.
Many quickly flooded the comments section with positive messages. A number also praised Alana’s natural look, saying she looked more beautiful than the times when she’d put on makeup, wear false lashes and acrylic nails.
