Man Accidentally Sends Video Of Himself Molesting Schoolgirl To Victim's Parents, Arrested

An Indonesian man was arrested Friday after he accidentally sent a video of himself molesting a girl to the victim’s parents.

According to local reports, the unidentified 21-year-old man and the victim, a school student, were friends. In August this year, the accused asked the girl to meet him in a vacant plot and the girl agreed. The man molested the girl at the plot and recorded the act.

“The video of the molestation was kept for his personal collection in his phone,” said Ruth Yeni, the head of the Surabaya Police’s Women and Child Protection Unit.

Last week, he accidentally sent the video of the act to the parents of the victim via Whatsapp. The parents immediately filed a police complaint. The man was taken into custody and charged with child molestation. He could face up to 15 years in jail if found guilty of the crime.

Investigation was ongoing to find out who the man intended to send the video to. Details regarding why the accused had the phone number of the victim’s parents was not known.
