Man Allegedly Beats Wife To Death After She Confronts Him For Finishing The Bread
A man in Nigeria allegedly beat his wife to death following an argument that broke out between them over a loaf of bread.
The victim was identified as Ogochukwu Enene and was a mother to four boys and one girl, sources reportedly said.
Enene was attacked and killed in Lagos by her husband, Ndubisi Uwadiegwu, Punch Newspapers reported Sunday.
"She was beaten to death by [her] husband who is currently planning to bury her without informing her people properly," a source told Within Nigeria.
The couple's oldest old son, aged 14, gave his account of the incident and reportedly said his father beat his mother to death with a mirror.
The son claimed the argument between his parents began when his mother asked his father to buy some bread for the family. When the man claimed he had no money, the mother-of-five decided to spend her own money and bought a loaf of bread for her kids.
"The first son who is 14 years of age said the father use mirror [sic] and beat the mom, because the mom asked him to buy bread for them and he said he has no money," the source told the outlet. "So when their mom used her money and bought one loaf of bread, the father went to the kitchen and finished the whole bread."
The mother later went to the kitchen and discovered that her husband had finished the entire loaf of bread all by himself. When she confronted him about it, the husband began physically assaulting her, according to the son's account provided by sources.
"When their mom went to him and asked him why he finished the whole bread without keeping any for the children he started beating her severely," the source added. "At a point, the woman collapsed and he continued beating her until he made sure that the woman could not survive. She died [a] few hours later."
She was the senior prefect of her school in the year 2000, the source added, and called her "very intelligent."
Details about whether the husband was arrested were not revealed. The victim "needs justice," a source told Punch Newspapers.
