A 26-year-old woman in India was allegedly kidnapped, drugged and raped by her former employer Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Sachin Tiwari, reportedly assaulted the woman with a knife when she tried to resist him, the police said. Tiwari is the director of a lab in Gurugram district in the northern state of Haryana. The victim was reportedly working as a technician in the lab till July, The Indian Express reported.

According to the police, Tiwari told the victim to meet him in Wazirabad, a village in Gurugram, under the pretext of having a conversation. He then forced her into a car and took her to an isolated place, where he sexually assaulted her. When she tried to resist his advances, the accused gave her an intoxicant and attacked her with a knife.

Some passersby, who heard the woman scream, rescued her, and informed the police. However, Tiwari managed to flee and is still on the run.

“An investigation is on. The woman has received some injuries in the upper part of the body. But they are not very serious,” a police officer told The Times of India.

The woman is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

According to the complaint, the woman started working as a lab technician in July 2020. Within 15 days of her joining, Tiwari allegedly filmed her while she was changing into her uniform.

“She alleged that he had threatened to make the video viral and raped her multiple times,” said an officer on the condition of anonymity to The Indian Express. “She also said that when she became pregnant, the accused forced her to get an abortion. We are verifying the allegations.”

The woman never reported the assault before, as she was afraid Tiwari would share her videos on social media.

Last month, a 33-year-old woman was sentenced to over 15 months in jail for abusing her domestic help in Singapore. The accused employer allegedly stripped down the victim and forced her to take a shower in front of her. She also allegedly kicked the victim in her genitals and threatened to hurt her family.
