Man Arrested For Allegedly Raping His Mother While Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Drugs

An intoxicated man allegedly raped his mother after holding her at knifepoint as her neighbors and family members were celebrating the auspicious festival of Diwali.

The shocking incident happened on Oct. 4 at a slum in the Indian state of Ghaziabad, reported NDTV. The incident came to light after the woman approached the police the next day to report her harrowing ordeal.

Police said the youth, whose identity has been withheld to safeguard the victim, was arrested the next day, Oct. 5, following his mother's complaint. According to the victim's statement, her son was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when the incident happened.

On the night of Oct. 4, when her neighbors and others in the family were celebrating Diwali, the accused came home intoxicated. He then made advances towards his mother. Aghast at her son's behavior, the woman objected to her son's act. He immediately pulled out a blade against her throat, threatening to kill her if she does not surrender to him.

Though the woman tried to escape from him, he applied more pressure on the knife's blade, insisting that she surrender meekly, a senior police officer Gyanendra Singh told NDTV.

Devastated after the incident, the woman reached the police station the next day to file a complaint. Singh added that the woman was crying bitterly over her "fate of being raped by her own son." She told police that what happened was beyond her worse dream.

The woman told police that her husband had abandoned her a long time ago and never cared for his family. She has been working as a domestic helper to earn her living and take care of her children.

She alleged that her son, addicted to drugs and alcohol, has been keeping bad company for some time.

"He would always keep a knife with himself and a blade in his mouth. He is cruel by nature and prone to picking up fights with local people," she told police in her complaint.

Last year, a similar incident was reported in the Indian state of Karnataka wherein a 21-year-old allegedly raped and killed his mother. Police said the accused had been having a sexual relationship with his mother since his father's death. However, he was upset after he learned his mother had been pursuing affairs with other men, following which he murdered her.
