Man Arrested For Repeatedly Raping Teen Girl And Sharing Video Of Assault On Facebook

In a shocking incident, a man has been arrested in India for allegedly raping a teen girl multiple times, filming the act and sharing it on social media, police said.
Chandrama Rajbhar, 24, of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was arrested Sunday, for raping a 17-year-old girl and sharing the video of the act on social media.
The teenager was raped multiple times in the past year, Virendra Yadav, station officer said, reported local news outlet NDTV. Rajbhar has been also accused of filming the act and sharing the videos on Facebook.
The victim reportedly told the police that Rajbhar repeatedly raped her by threatening her of dire consequences if she dared to file a complaint or reported the matter to anyone.
The police have started an investigation on the case. Rajbhar has been charged with rape along with other charges based on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly abusing a minor. The police said that he has also been charged based on Information Technology (IT) Act for filming and sharing the video of the victim on social media.
The police also said that the teen victim has been sent for medical examination.
In a similar incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh in May 2020 for allegedly raping a teenager and for circulating the video of the act on WhatsApp groups. The man reportedly spiked the victim’s soft drink and raped her while his 21-year-old friend filmed the act.
“The key accused used the video to blackmail the 17-and-half-year-old girl and pressured her into having sex with him for the past one year,” a police spokesperson said, reported local news outlet Deccan Herald. “The accused also threatened the girl that he would kill her and her family members if she approached police to report the matter,” the spokesperson added. The police arrested the suspects on charges of rape, causing hurt with poison, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation.
