A Riverside, California, man, arrested on suspicion of multiple sexual assaults of a child under 10 at an unlicensed daycare center run by his family in their home might have other victims, police said Monday.

Police said they were searching for other children who might have been molested by the man, identified as 49-year-old Hubert David Edgin. He was arrested Friday afternoon from his home in the 3400 block of Sun Court, located in the Eastside neighborhood, Riverside City Police Officer Ryan J. Railsback said.

The issue came to light when a girl who attended the daycare informed her parents that she was assaulted by Edgin. Her parents alerted the authorities and an investigation by the by the Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault — Child Abuse Unit soon followed.

“The abuse continued until a few days ago when the victim told her family of the allegations,” Railsback said.

The time period of the alleged sexual abuse remains unclear, while the exact age and other details of the girl were not disclosed. She was described by the police as a “young child” attending the daycare for about two years. Investigators concluded that the daycare Edgin ran with his wife was not licensed and this should have served as a warning to parents.

“When you come with something that’s licensed you’re probably going to have the people running it more vetted so you're going to know about them and whether or not this is safe for your child,” Railsback added.

Neighbors of Edgin described him as a nice man who was very involved with Oasis Church, Moreno Valley, CBS LA reported. The police said Edgin might have done volunteer works with the church’s youth group and might have sexually assaulted other children he met through his activities there. The church was alerted to the investigation, reports said.

Edgin is currently in custody with a bail amount of $1 million as the police continue the investigation. Police said they found enough evidence to charge Edgin with multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor, though the charges weren't made clear yet. He will be brought to court Tuesday, the Edmond Sun reported.

"We're hoping there are no other victims, but if there are, we do want them to come forward," Railsback said.
