A New Hampshire man bit a police K-9 when he was being arrested in a hotel room Friday. According to local reports, the Manchester Police Department's officers arrived at the scene after someone reported that a man was "behaving erratically."

Officers said Matthew Williams, 35, of Nashua, barricaded himself inside his hotel room and refused to answer his phone. He instead started yelling, throwing items and "acting aggressive."

"Police found a barricade once the hotel door was finally opened. Williams was uncooperative. Since he wasn’t complying with their commands, NH State Police utilized their K9 to affect the arrest," police said in a statement on Facebook.

However, when a police dog entered the hotel room, Williams allegedly "wrapped his arms around the dog and struggled with him," authorities said.

"The guy ended up getting a little bit more belligerent... eventually, he growled himself -- the man growled -- opened his mouth and bit the dog on the top of the head," police spokeswoman Heather Hamel said.

Police said the standoff lasted for more than two hours. Williams was charged with resisting arrest, simple assault and willful interference with police dogs. They said the dog was not injured in the incident, and Williams was bitten on the arm. Williams' next court date was scheduled for August.
