Man Charged With Sexually Abusing 3 Young Girls in Wife’s Care

A New York man previously detained on sexual abuse charges involving a 7-year-old child was arrested again Wednesday after three young girls complained that they were also sexually assaulted by him while they were under his wife’s care.

Angel Tacuri, 52, the husband of a Patchogue child care provider, was charged with two counts of course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, one count of sexual abuse in the first degree and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Suffolk County Police Department said in a Facebook post.

It said that the three girls were sexually abused by Tacuri, of 212 North Ocean Ave., between 2010 and 2015 while they were under his wife’s care at the couple’s residence in Patchogue. The children were between the ages of 3 and 8 when they were abused.

The children came forward with sexual abuse complaints against Tacuri after he got arrested in January 2021 on charges stemming from a 2010 incident involving the 7-year-old child.

At the time of his arrest in January, Tacuri was charged with a first-degree criminal sexual act and a first-degree sexual Abuse Act.

“We recognize the amount of courage that it took for these victims to come forward,” Detective Lt. Scott Welshimer was quoted as saying by News 12. “We want people to know they're not alone,” he added.

According to police, the daycare center run by the suspect’s wife at their residence was unlicensed.

After the arrest, Tacuri was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Suffolk Police Department said the investigation is continuing and added that anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Tacuri is requested to contact the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6531 or 911.

A similar incident of sexual assault in daycare was reported last month in Malaysia.

A 36-year-old man, identified as Mohamad Badruldin, was arrested for sexually assaulting and murdering a 9-month-old child who was under his wife’s care. An investigation revealed that Badruldin sodomized and suffocated the baby to death using his hands in the bedroom of the couple's house.
