A man in Egypt was arrested for allegedly killing his older brother, following an argument over money. The accused then reportedly chopped up the corpse, put the remains in plastic bags and dumped them in the garbage.

According to local police, the accused admitted to the killing, saying he wanted to steal money from his brother in order to pay off his debts. On Tuesday, a security source said the Imbaba Police Department of the Giza Security Directorate received a report about the body parts in the plastic bags. The department said the human parts consisted of the legs of a male amputated below the knee, Middle East 24 reported.

After being arrested, the accused confessed to killing his brother, who was also a barber like him. The two brothers lived together in the same house, local media reports said.

“I was going through some financial hardships and asked my brother to help me, but he refused. This has angered me because I know that he was well off and had enough money. So, I decided to kill him. I lured him to an apartment that we recently rented and strangled him to death with a plastic rope," the accused, who has not been identified, was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

"I took his mobile phone, cut his body into parts, hid them in plastic bags and threw them in different places. Afterwards, I moved to my brother’s shop to steal the money,” he added.

The accused then told the police about the location where he had dumped the rest of the body parts, along with the murder weapons, which were two knives.

The accused was referred to the Egyptian Public Prosecution, which decided to imprison him for four days while the investigation in the case continued. It remained unclear if any charges have been placed against the accused as of Wednesday. The exact location where the killing took place was not revealed.

Last month in India, a couple strangled a woman to death after they were unable to repay the loan taken from the victim. The 72-year-old's dismembered body parts in a canal. Authorities said that the victim's son and daughter-in-law were out of town at the time.
