A man in Malaysia who raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter 105 times over a period of two years has been sentenced to spend 1,050 years behind bars.

A Malaysian sessions court gave the verdict on Wednesday after the man, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, pleaded guilty to raping his minor stepdaughter between Jan. 5, 2018, and Feb. 24, 2020, at a house in Sungai Way in the state of Selangor, World of Buzz reported.

The accused, who is reported to be unemployed, married the victim’s mother in November 2016.

The incidents happened on occasions when the victim was alone with her stepfather in the house. The girl did not inform her mother about the abuse as she was threatened by her abuser.

It was only when her mother took the victim and her younger sister to their aunt's house the girl broke down and spoke about the abuse.

The victim's mother informed the police about the abuse, and on Jan. 20, the man was arrested.

During his court hearing Wednesday, Sessions Court Judge M. Kunasundary sentenced the accused to serve 10 years in jail and two strokes of the cane for each rape charge he is facing. The sentence will run consecutively from the date of his arrest.

Judge Kunasundary remarked that not only was it a grave offense, it was also abominable and had scarred the child’s future.

"I hope you will repent while in prison. You should not have committed a violent act and although the punishment is minimum, the court feels this is sufficient by taking into account the number of charges against you," the judge said during the hearing, the New Strait Times reported.

The accused was not represented by an attorney and made no appeal over the sentence.

"The victim, in this case, was 12 years old when she was first raped by the accused, who then continued to rape her 105 times over a period of two years," Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Abrar said during the hearing, the New Strait Times reported.

"As stepfather of the victim, he should have been responsible for protecting the victim but instead he destroyed her self-worth. His action will cause life-long trauma to the victim. Incest cases are appalling and condemnable offences and viewed seriously by every level of society, regardless of religion," Abrar added.

Considering the public interest that the case has gained, Abrar urged the judge to impose the accused with a heavy custodial sentence.

"His action will cause life-long trauma to the victim. Incest cases are appalling and condemnable offenses and viewed seriously by every level of society, regardless of religion," she concluded.
