A man in Coweta County, Georgia, will spend the next three decades in prison after he was convicted Wednesday of kidnapping and stalking his wife.

Renargo Hutcherson was convicted by a Coweta County jury of kidnapping, aggravated stalking, felony battery - family violence, and cruelty to children in the third degree, WSB-TV reported.

Hutcherson was sentenced to 35 years in prison. He will not be eligible for parole during the first 20 years of his sentence.

Hutcherson and the victim got married in 2016, officials said.

In 2018, Hutcherson came home angry from work. He attacked his wife, who was nine months pregnant at the time, while she was sleeping in the bed with their 2-year-old son.

After Hutcherson went to sleep, the woman called 911. Her husband was arrested and ordered not to have any contact with his wife while awaiting the case.

However, Hutcherson and the victim started living together again after the birth of their second child, despite the man being in violation of the protective order.

In mid-2019, the woman packed up her things, took their kids and left the home. After this, Hutcherson started stalking his wife for about a week, calling her over a hundred times and repeatedly showing up at the place where she worked.

In August of the same year, Hutcherson blocked the car of his wife and requested that they talk. The woman was convinced to get in Hutcherson's car, believing that it would just be moved so another car could get out of the parking lot.

Instead, Hutcherson drove off and took her against her will over 200 miles to South Carolina.

The parents of the woman notified authorities after not hearing from her for several hours. Police were able to locate Hutcherson and the woman in a hotel in South Carolina.

In related news, the life of an inmate at the Coweta County Jail was saved earlier this month thanks to the quick response of Coweta County jail officers, The Newnan Times-Herald reported.

On Nov. 5, the unnamed prisoner went into cardiac arrest, according to Sgt. Toby Nix, the public information officer for the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.

The cellmate of the inmate alerted detention officer Anna Mysliwiec, the first one to respond to the medical emergency. The inmate, who has a history of heart issues, was removed from the cell, and life-saving measures were performed.

The prisoner was then transported to the Piedmont Newnan Hospital for continued care.

The inmate's current condition is unclear.
