Man Injures Wife, Son, Suspected Of Killing Daughter In Las Vegas
A Las Vegas man, who was booked for attempting to murder his estranged wife, is also suspected of murdering his 12-year-old daughter and seriously injuring his son. The 30-year-old man, identified as Marcus Maddox, suffered self-inflicted gunshot wounds and is being treated for his injuries.
The chain of events started Sunday evening when officers responded to a report from an apartment on the 5200 block of East Craig Road of a woman badly beaten and a man who was shot.
Police said they suspected Maddox had beaten his estranged wife, who had a severe head injury, and then shot himself.
This incident triggered a search by Clark County Child Protective Services personnel for the couple's two children. The search ended Monday morning when officers responded to a call from Budget Suites on South Las Vegas Boulevard, near Wigwam Avenue, New York Daily News reported.
There they found a girl fatally stabbed and a 15-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries. They were later identified as Maddox's children, but their identities were withheld.
The report also said that the boy is admitted to a local hospital and is in a critical condition.
A report published in Fox-affiliated television station serving Las Vegas, Nevada, KVVU-TV, quoting Lt. Dan McGrath from the Metro Homicide Unit said the incident took place with the siblings at least 15 hours before it was discovered.
Police are still looking for information on the whereabouts of Maddox from the weekend to know when the children were assaulted.
Reports state that Maddox is currently being treated at the Clark County Detention Center, and was booked in absentia for attempted murder, mayhem, battery, discharging a gun inside an occupied building and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
He will also supposedly face additional charges in connection with the killing of his daughter and attempted murder of his son.
Interestingly, a report in Las Vegas Sun said Maddox was already facing charges of sexual abuse based on allegations made by his daughter who was found dead.
Metro police were already investigating the case when the horrifying incident took place. However, Maddox denied all these allegations and the police claimed of not having enough evidence to arrest him.
Police have requested anyone with information on the family’s whereabouts in the days leading up to the violent incidents have been asked to contact Metro detectives at 702-828-3521 or via email at homicide@lvmpd.com.
