A Tennesse man has been arrested for kidnapping and attacking his ex-girlfriend over a lottery ticket that he allegedly paid for. The 43-year-old suspect also assaulted police officers when they attempted to detain him, an arrest affidavit showed.

Dontrell Hanes allegedly kidnapped his unidentified ex-girlfriend by breaking into her home in Cordova. He was upset with the woman for not giving him the lottery ticket he allegedly paid for and attacked her claiming she owed him money, police said, reported NBC News.

Hanes was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping and domestic assault. He also faces charges of assault against a first responder.

It is unclear if the woman had the lottery ticket.

Hanes entered the house by breaking into the garage door after the woman refused to open the door for him. He allegedly kicked and choked the woman, asking her for the money. She was dragged out of her house and pushed into his vehicle, the arrest affidavit said, reported Action News 5.

Hanes reportedly told the woman he was heading to the Orange Mound area "to shoot up someone's house" and got a handgun from his car. He demanded $10,000 and threatened her that things would "not end well" if she attempted to leave.

Eventually, the woman contacted her daughter after Hanes allowed her to use her cell phone, which gave detectives a chance to track their location.

When the deputies stopped Hanes' vehicle, he refused to get out. He punched a deputy and kicked another in the leg several times when they tried to take him out of the car, according to the arrest affidavit.

The officers eventually detained Hanes and seized a stolen handgun from him. Investigators determined that Hanes had a criminal history. He was previously arrested on charges, including possession of cocaine and domestic violence against the same woman.

In connection with the recent kidnapping and assault case, Hanes is ordered to be held on a $250,000 bond in Shelby County Jail.
