A Florida man has been arrested for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend after she failed to pick up his phone calls and respond to his texts after breaking up with him. The man shot the victim 15 times in the back and said he would have shot her father too if he had to do it again, an arrest affidavit revealed.

Carlos Lemont Jones, 23, was arrested Tuesday for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Sha'Dayla A. Johnson, also 23, at her apartment in Brevard County's Melbourne, news outlet Law & Crime reported.

Emergency officers responded to the scene and found Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds at her carport. She was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

"Sha'Dayla appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds concentrated in the back side of her body, suggesting she was shot as she was walking or running away from the perpetrator," police said.

Police identified Jones as the suspect after his vehicle was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting.

The duo reportedly exchanged words outside Johnson's house and as she turned to go back into her house, Jones shot her in the back 15 times, police said.

The victim's unidentified father, who was also living in the same house told the cops that he heard gunshots soon after his daughter opened the front door to leave for work. When he looked out from the living room window, he saw Jones, who had been dating Johnson for the past five months. By the time the father stepped outside to confront him, Jones had already left in his vehicle.

Jones and Johnson reportedly broke up two weeks ago. According to Johnson's father, Jones has been harassing his daughter to get back to him, but Johnson refused to answer his phone calls and texts.

Cops took Jones into custody after he turned himself in Tuesday morning and "gave a full confession," of the crime, Click Orlando reported.

Jones reportedly decided to kill his ex-girlfriend after he woke up angry that she had not answered his calls or replied to his text messages. Jones admitted to going to her house to murder her before she left for work, the arrest affidavit said.

During interrogation, when cops asked Jones if he regrets killing the victim, he said "no." The suspect also added that if he had to do it again, he would have killed both Johnson and her father.

Jones was charged with premeditated first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held at the Brevard County Jail without bond.
