A Florida man has admitted to killing his grandfather as he believed it was time for the victim to be with his deceased grandmother. The suspect pulled out his grandfather’s severed ears from his trouser pocket to the police's surprise while he was being questioned about the murder.
Kolby Parker, 30, has been accused of fatally stabbing Ronald Wells Sr., 77, Saturday night in a confrontation that reportedly started while the two were smoking marijuana at their residence.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to a home in DeLand Saturday night on reports of a man who claimed that his grandfather attacked him. When the deputies arrived at the scene, Wells was found dead on the front porch with multiple stab wounds, reported news outlet CBS 12.
Parker reportedly told the deputies that Wells had initiated the attack and he just acted in self-defense. According to Parker, Wells approached him with a knife and he was forced to disarm him before turning the knife against him. He also admitted to hitting Wells on the head with a baseball bat before stabbing him numerous times with a butcher’s knife.
Parker allegedly lunged at a deputy in an attempt to grab his taser gun. He also punched, kicked and headbutted the deputies while he was being taken into custody, according to the arrest affidavit, reported news outlet Orlando Sentinel.
Parker allegedly told the police that he committed the murder because he wanted his grandfather to be with his deceased grandmother. “It was his time to go,” the local outlet quoted him as saying.
During a search at the property, the police found an apron with the words “The Family Butcher” printed on it from Parker’s bedroom. The apron had bloody human ears, made out of plastic, attached to it, the report said.
Parker is charged with second-degree murder, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence. He is being held without bond in Lake County jail.
In a similar incident that happened in January, a man from Brooklyn has been accused of slaying his grandfather and his 4-year-old sister with a machete, reported NY Daily News. The police arrested 22-year-old Dayquan DuBose on charges of murder, assault, child endangerment and weapon possession for the alleged machete attack.
