Man Kills Wife, Daughter; Dumps Bodies In Drainage Pipe

In a horrific incident in India, a man allegedly killed his wife and daughter after he suspected his spouse of having an extra-marital affair.

The crime took place last week in the state of Gujarat. The man was taken into custody after his foster daughter -- identified as Saroj -- informed the police she suspected her father of killing his wife and daughter, media outlet Times Now reported. The accused was identified as Sanjay Ojha.

Initially, when Saroj asked her father about the bloodstains she found on his clothes, Ojha said he fell from his bike and suffered injuries. She then asked him the whereabouts of her mother, identified as Simran, and sister, identified as Sonia to which Ojha responded by saying they were visiting a relative, and would return the next morning.

Upon hearing this, Saroj allegedly grew suspicious and informed her neighbors, Times Now reported. The 21-year-old woman then went to the police station and filed a complaint against Ojha, following which an investigation was launched into the case. Detectives found Ojha was addicted to alcohol, media outlet Catch News reported. He also allegedly used to hit his wife and suspected her of having an affair.

On the day of the murders, Ojha told Sonia he would take her to a nearby store to buy her a turtle. Simran also accompanied Ojha, who took them to a forest area and murdered them, the Catch News reported. He then dumped the bodies in a long drainage pipe built by a port. It remains unclear how Ojha killed the two women.

Ojha reportedly confessed to the crimes during the questioning. The police officers then arrived at the scene where Ojha said he had dumped the bodies, and retrieved the victims' corpses.

In a similar incident last month, a father killed his 5-year-old girl in India after he suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair. The couple allegedly fought several times as the husband thought she was cheating on him. During an argument, the wife said that he was not the father of her child. This infuriated the father, who took the child to a farming field on the pretext of gathering firewood. After reaching the spot, he tore the belt from the dress she was wearing and strangled her with it.
