Man Murders Woman For Refusing To Leave Husband, Jumps In Front Of Train Killing Himself
An Indian man confessed to murdering his girlfriend in a live-streaming video before jumping in front of a train and ending his life.
The slain woman was found dead at her home, along with her crying 5-year-old son, according to neighbors who said they discovered her knifed body.
The series of events began Sunday after the man, identified as Kiran Debnath, visited the residence of his girlfriend, Rhea Biswas, in the Indian state of West Bengal, according to India Today.
Biswas was a married woman who shared a 5-year-old son with her husband. Officials revealed that Biswas had been having an affair with Debnath for two years before her death.
While visiting his girlfriend Sunday night, Debnath demanded Biswas leave her husband, and the pair got into a heated argument. Debnath tortured and battered the woman when she refused to leave her husband, police said.
Debnath slashed the woman's throat during the altercation and left her mutilated body inside the residence.
"There were injuries and scuffle marks on the victim's body," a police source said, according to the outlet.
Hours after murdering the woman, Debnath started a live-streaming video on social media and confessed to the crime.
"I killed Rhea," he reportedly said in the video. "I wouldn't have killed her, neither would have taken this step ... "
"But she left me with no choice," Kiran added. "I am scared; I have nothing to live for. If I live, I will have to spend the rest of my life in jail."
The man then walked toward some railway tracks and jumped in front of a train, ending his own life, India.com reported.
Biswas' neighbors claimed they heard her son's cries and found her dead body inside a bathroom.
"We heard the child weep hysterically. His mother was not with him when we saw the child ... We looked around and noticed that the bathroom door was open," said a local resident, according to India Today.
"We discovered Rhea lying on the floor with her throat slit," he added.
Local residents also said Debnath would regularly visit Biswas during their two-year relationship.
"The boy visited Rhea almost regularly in the absence of her husband," a local said.
The pair ran away together in October, but Biswas later returned to her husband, another source added.
