Man Poisons Wife's Rice Krispies: A Cereal Killer, Police Say
A man from Southern California has been arrested for poising his wife's Rice Krispies.
Fernando Porras, 43, from Azusa, Calif. is being held on $1 million bail for attempted murder after his wife discovered her bowl of cereal had been poisoned with Goof Off, a stain remover. Fernanda, Porras' 17-year-old daughter called 911 after her mother said the cereal tasted very strange, awful even.
She goes 'something's in it, something's in it,' Fernanda told KCAL-TV. So I went and picked it up and when I saw what was in the cup, I could smell it and I was like 'oh my gosh, this is a chemical.
The family checked Porras' wife at the hospital. Police suspected Porras was the culprit behind this devious crime after he went for a cigarette break and never returned.
He walked away from the hospital, Cpl. Randy Schmidt told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Police caught up with him two miles away and promptly arrested him.
Fernanda was in shock over the incident and does not know why her father would attempt to poison her mother.
It's my dad, Fernanda told KCAL on Saturday. It's hard not to think about, you know, why would he do it?
