Man Sexually Abused His Own Children, Let His Friend Assault Daughter, Police Say

A 44-year-old man has ended up behind bars for allegedly sexually abusing his daughter and son. Police said he also let one of his friends abuse the girl.

The disturbing incident, which happened in the Indian state of Telangana, came to light last week after the accused's 14-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son opened up about it to a counselor, reported The New Indian Express.

Police charged both men, whose identities were not revealed, with child abuse and rape under the country's child protection law. The friend of the accused is absconding.

Officers said the abuses occurred prior to 2018. The accused, a software professional and the son of a local politician, was living in the U.S. with his wife after their marriage in 2003. They later shifted to the city of Hyderabad in 2018. The couple divorced in 2018 and the children moved in with their mother.

The woman noticed her children were growing increasingly depressed and had nightmares. She took them to a psychologist. That's when the girl and the boy opened up about their harrowing ordeal. The children said their father had abused them multiple times and even allowed his friend to abuse the girl in front of him.

The mother filed a complaint against the man and his friend. A senior police official said a lookout notice was issued to stop the friend from leaving the country.

Last month, a man was arrested for forcing his minor daughter into prostitution. The incident, which happened in the Indian state of Rajasthan, came to light after the girl became pregnant. The victim narrated her ordeal to her sister, who filed a complaint with the police. Police said the father would send the minor to parties where men would sexually abuse her. During one such party in March, the minor was raped by four men and she became pregnant. Police said her father also threatened to kill her when she refused to attend such parties.
