In a bizarre shooting incident, a man shot a barber over his 13-year-old son’s haircut near Houston, Texas, the Harris County Sheriff’s office said.

Deputies were called to a barbershop on Franz Road, in Katy near Houston around 5 p.m. Saturday. They found a male employee who was shot three times by a customer. The customer had fled the scene by the time the deputies arrived.

The barber was taken to a nearby local hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition.

According to Harris County Detective Wallace Wyatt, the altercation took place over the haircut that was given to the suspect’s son.

The teen boy had gone to the barbershop to get a haircut early Saturday. He went home and came back again with his father who said that the haircut was not done properly. According to detectives, the barber fixed the haircut for free.

However, as they were leaving the barber and the father got into a fight in the parking lot. That’s when the father shot the barber in his stomach, leg, and arm.

The suspect was described as a black man, who is driving a gray four-door sedan, which could possibly be a Honda Accord, the sheriff’s office said. The son was in the car when the incident took place and both father and son drove away in the car.

“I think it’s just crazy for anyone to shoot anybody over a haircut, period,” Wyatt told KHOU. “This disturbing part is his 13-year-old son witnessed this, which makes him part of this, so this 13-year-old son knows he needs to come forward and tell us what happened. Just to be an example, to be a good father and say, ‘I messed up. I have something to prove to my son, and this is how you fix it.’”
