San Antonio, Texas -- A man was arrested for shooting his mother and stepfather in the presence of his 9-year-old daughter.
Frank Falcon, 44, murdered the couple around 2 a.m. Thursday in a residential area on the south side of San Antonio, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The 66-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after responding officers arrived. The stepfather, whose head was grazed by the gunshot, was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The accused had arrived at his mother and stepfather's house with a weapon and shot his parents “in a random act of violence,” as per the outlet.
The stepfather was able to speak to cops and provide them with enough details about his stepson to help with his arrest, according to News 4 San Antonio. The man was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, officials said.
Falcon’s 9-year-old daughter was living with her grandparents at the time of the incident and witnessed the victims being shot by her father. The child made it out without being harmed.
Police said Falcon fled the scene in a grey Mercury after the shooting but was later caught “in the general area.”
Investigators found that Falcon had been evicted from another home before arriving at his parent's residence. He was caught and arrested by cops at the same home he was evicted from, KSAT 12 reported.
As the investigation continues, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
A similar incident was reported last year after a 22-year-old man shot his mother to death in New York City. The 39-year-old mother and her son had an argument about the son getting a job right before he shot her. Cops found the victim dead inside her apartment with a gunshot wound to her eye. The accused who had also opened fire at a random passerby while trying to escape, was caught not too far from the apartment. The man underwent a psychiatric evaluation and was later charged with second-degree murder.
