An Asian worker was arrested Monday in the United Arab Emirates for allegedly stabbing his roommate with a kitchen knife over a "wrong recipe" for a dish. According to local reports, the victim suffered serious injuries leading to a permanent disability.

The suspect was charged at the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court with insult and fighting with his roommate, local media reported. Court documents revealed that the duo got into a heated argument over the wrong food recipe following which the suspect attacked the victim.

The medical report shows the roommate suffered a permanent disability in his hand after the accused slashed his wrist. The victim was also charged with swearing and assaulting. The accused confessed he was angry after the victim insulted him for telling him about the incorrectly cooked dish.

However, the roommate denied the charges and said that he did not insult or assault the accused. The victim also said that his roommate insulted him for using a wrong recipe and then stabbed him.

Other details about the case remain unknown.

In another incident last month, a construction worker was sentenced to 10 years in jail for stabbing his roommate several times in an attempt to kill him. The incident took place in Abu Dhabi city, local media reports said. The man was found guilty of attempted murder and was ordered to pay $27,000 to the victim in compensation for physical and psychological damages.

Local media reports said at the time that the duo got into an argument which led to a fight. The worker then got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim several times in the stomach and other body parts. The victim, who was in a critical condition after the attack, spent weeks in a hospital.
