Two women were arrested after a Facebook Marketplace sale resulted in a man being stabbed multiple times in Alabama.
Trussville Police Department received a 911 call from the victim shortly before 11:42 a.m. Tuesday. The victim stated that two people had stabbed him multiple times at a home off Mac Roper Road, said Lt. Clint Riner.
An investigation revealed that the suspects were responding to a Facebook Marketplace ad for a 2015 Nissan Altima that the victim had listed for sale. During the transaction, the suspects and the victim had an altercation over the vehicle that led to the stabbing.
The victim gave the officers detailed descriptions of the two suspects, who left the crime scene in a vehicle, WBRC reported.
A lookout notice for the vehicle was issued. Responding officers were able to locate the vehicle traveling north toward downtown Trussville and attempted a traffic stop.
The vehicle failed to stop at various safe points and accelerated to evade the police, leading to a car chase. Trussville Police said the suspects were pursued because they were suspected offenders of a violent felony.
The vehicle was chased for 1.5 miles before the suspects lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, ending the pursuit. The vehicle crashed on railroad tracks behind a restaurant. Officers found two women inside the car. Both of them were taken into custody.
An 18-month-old girl was also inside the car with the suspects. She was taken into protective custody and released to the Department of Human Resources, according to WBMA-LD.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he received treatment for his stab wounds. His condition was unclear.
The two suspects are being held in the Trussville City Jail while detectives conduct further investigation. Police said they are expecting to charge both suspects soon, according to the outlet.
The suspects’ identities are being withheld and will be released to the public once warrants are obtained.
Police are still investigating the incident.
