Man Strangles, Electrocutes Employer's Wife To Death After Getting Fired; Arrested
A man in India has been arrested for allegedly murdering his employer's wife after he was fired from his job. The suspect said he killed the victim as she asked her husband to remove the accused from the job, police said.
The 31-year-old suspect, identified as Rakesh Kumar from India's capital New Delhi, was arrested on charges of murder after he surrendered to the police confessing to the crime. Rakesh who worked as a driver for the victim's family told the police that he strangled to death his employer's wife, 32-year-old Pinki, and electrocuted her to make sure she was dead, The Indian Express reported.
After turning himself to the police, Rakesh led them to the victim's house where they recovered the body. The victim's body was sent for an autopsy.
An investigation revealed that Virender Kumar, the victim's husband, employed the suspect as a driver around four years ago and allowed him to stay at his house. Virender reportedly did not give the suspect his salary every month but had agreed that he would pay it in bulk whenever he needed it.
After Virender got married recently, his wife started complaining about the driver asking him to be thrown out of the house. She also reportedly objected to paying him the salary, The Times of India reported.
Rakesh was fired from his job around two months ago and since then he was staying in a house in a nearby street. Upon finding out that Pinki was alone at home, Rakesh entered the victim's house on Monday evening. He then overpowered the victim and strangled her to death. Afterward, Rakesh gave the woman electric shocks to ensure she was dead, police said.
In July, a domestic help in India was arrested for kidnapping her employer's 3-year-old child and demanding ransom after the employer threatened to throw her out of the job for asking for a pay hike. The unidentified 23-year-old woman working in Delhi abducted the kid as she was reportedly upset with her employer for scolding her and arguing over her salary. The police rescued the child while the suspect was traveling with the baby to her native.
