While most of us struggle to push even a tiny vitamin pill down the system, a man in Kosovo, a partially recognized state in Southeastern Europe, has somehow managed to swallow an entire Nokia 3310 handset.

Luckily for the man, doctors were able to remove the device, which was lodged in his stomach, through an operation.

The unidentified man, 33, reportedly swallowed the early 2000s model device, which is popularly known as the "brick phone," a week ago.

Dr Skander Teljaku, who handled the case, has detailed the entire incident on Facebook. "The male 33 years old had a small phone 4 days ago. With endoscopic roads, so without cutting the stomach, we pulled the split phone into three parts. No complications," the post read, Google Translation showed.

After the man was brought to the hospital, doctors ran a scan on him and it was found that the phone was "too big for him to digest," DNA India reported. Doctors said his life was in danger because the corrosive battery of the device contained harmful chemicals.

In the Facebook post, Teljaku shared photos of the phone, X-ray, and Endoscopy reports. The Facebook post showed that the phone was split into three parts as it traveled its way into the man's stomach.

"I got a call about a patient. Was told he had swallowed something. When we scanned, the phone was split into three parts in the stomach. One part of the battery, that was the matter of most concern. If it stayed in for a long time, there was a fear of an explosion in the stomach," Teljaku told local media, according to DNA India.

The man presented with a stomach ache at the hospital in Kosovo's capital Pristina but didn't reveal why he swallowed the phone, Teljaku told local media, according to DNA India. A clip recorded at the operation theatre showed doctors performing a two-hour-long surgery to get the phone out of the man's stomach.

In a similar incident, an Egyptian man, who swallowed a mobile phone during a prank with his peers, had to undergo surgery to remove it. The mobile phone was detected after he underwent an ultrasound test in a state hospital in the province of Benha, north of Cairo, almost seven months after he swallowed it. The patient told a local newspaper that he swallowed the phone thinking he would be able to regurgitate it.
