  • Manchester United could be close to signing Jadon Sancho this summer, an insider said
  • Borussia Dortmund is "resigned" to the fact that Sancho is leaving, the insider added
  • Another report said the English Premier League side has reached the final stages of the winger's transfer to Old Trafford

Borussia Dortmund could be ready to finally let Jadon Sancho join Manchester United, a report said.

The Red Devils have reportedly spent roughly a year chasing Sancho. If recent reports are accurate, things have been going well for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as Borussia Dortmund is said to be open to sealing the winger’s exit.

Providing an update on the looming Sancho to Manchester United move, veteran journalist Peter O’Rourke of The Sportsman suggested that Borussia Dortmund is aware of “the fact” that the youngster is leaving, and it appears that the Red Devils may be able to complete his transfer this summer.

“I think it’s getting closer,” O’Rourke said on “The Football Terrace” podcast. “I think we’re all probably fed up with the Jadon Sancho deal because it’s been going on for the last 12 months, but it’s been a transfer saga and I think it’s going to come to a successful conclusion this summer at last.”

“[Borussia] Dortmund are resigned to the fact that the England winger is going to leave and probably return to the Premier League,” he continued. “Manchester United are leading the race for him, as they have been since last summer when they thought they could get a deal done but obviously couldn’t agree terms.”

But while nothing is concrete yet, O’Rourke also said Sancho’s move to Old Trafford could still be botched if “something dramatic” occurs along the way.

“Finally, we should see Jadon Sancho in a Manchester United shirt this summer, unless something dramatic happens,” the journalist added.

The same narrative on the Sancho transfer saga was earlier reported by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

According to Romano, Manchester United has reached the “final” stages of the Sancho deal, and the only thing in question now is the English side’s commitment in terms of payment.

"As I’ve said many times, personal terms are agreed since one week, so personal terms are OK and this is not new. Also, agent fees are agreed, no problem with agents, no problem with the player," Romano recently said on the “Here We Go” podcast. "It's now just the negotiation with Borussia Dortmund, they want €95 million ($113 million). Manchester United knows that they can't sign [Jadon] Sancho for €70 million ($83 million) so it's normal negotiations, they are talking."

"If Sancho will join Manchester United, it's going to be a quick negotiation,” he added. “So a matter of weeks. The second thing is that all parties involved in the negotiation are confident to do a deal this summer. Now it's up to Manchester United to pay. This time from Dortmund, from the player, and Manchester United, they are optimistic and confident. It's time to reach an agreement on the payment structure, on the add-ons, and the final fee."
