Man United Rumors: Club Given Major Boost To Sign Haaland Thanks To Ronaldo

As clubs across Europe are set to make their acquisitions in the upcoming January transfer window, Manchester United may be where Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland lands thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Haaland previously shared his admiration for the Portuguese superstar and that his style of football has been heavily influenced by him.

"I would love to meet him and tell him that I'm a footballer thanks to him. For me, he's always been a role model,” Haaland said last year as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Ronaldo has also given Haaland his flowers early this year, projecting him as a top-tier upcoming talent.

“It is hard to choose just one player to say this one will be the best. But I think it is exciting to see this new generation of young players, like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, who are coming through,” he mentioned via the same Manchester Evening News piece.

The rumors linking Haaland to Manchester United have been firing on all cylinders after manager Ralf Rangnick previously revealed his desire to have Haaland move to Old Trafford, which may potentially happen in the summer transfer window of 2022.

The entire football world has been jockeying for position since the most recent summer transfer window as teams are pining to have the world-class Norwegian lead their attacking groups.

Haaland’s contract with Borussia Dortmund has a €75 million ($84.5 million) release clause set to become active next summer.

The Norwegian has been on all major clubs’ radar as his phenomenal goal-scoring ability heralds him as one of football’s next generational talents.

He has already scored 19 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season, increasing his total to 76 goals in 75 appearances for the perennial German Bundesliga powerhouse.

Manchester United will have stiff competition in trying to acquire Haaland from Borussia Dortmund as teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid are all set to make their respective bids for the burgeoning superstar.

The legendary 63-year-old German tactician has long been connected to Haaland’s camp after helping facilitate his move from Molde to RB Leipzig when he was the sporting director of the latter club in 2018.

Should Manchester United be able to sign Haaland, they become instant favorites to win the English Premier League next season with a projected attacking group of Ronaldo, Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood.
