  • Paul Pogba has been constantly linked to transfer rumors this summer
  • Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed Pogba's situation
  • A host of big-name clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, might pursue the World Cup winner

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on Paul Pogba's future and potentially addressed rumors of his move away from Old Trafford.

The transfer rumors being linked to Pogba’s name intensified as he edges closer to his return to Manchester United from holiday. Amid the pre-season, Solskjaer was quizzed on the midfielder’s situation.

According to Solskjaer, it is true that there have been “talks” between United and Pogba and his representatives. However, the only thing he is certain about is the player’s commitment to the upcoming season.

“There's always speculation about Paul [Pogba] and clubs being interested, and we've seen Paul at his best,” the Red Devils boss told reporters at a recent media conference. “Paul knows what we feel about it and I've enjoyed my time working with him and hopefully we can work together.”

“The talks between the club and Paul's representatives, I'm not in the detail of every single one of them,” he pointed out. “I've got nothing to say about that. Let's see what happens. The talks are ongoing between Paul's representatives and the club representatives. All the dialogue I've had with Paul is he's looking forward to the season.”

Pogba still has one year left in his current deal with Manchester United which would make him available on a free transfer next summer. He could negotiate a free agent move to a club outside the English Premier League as early as Jan. 1, 2022.

The Red Devils are not keen on allowing Pogba to leave for free but have yet to secure a fresh set of terms after having their latest contract offer rejected by the World Cup winner, ESPN reported.

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain remains “ready to commence negotiations” for Pogba’s transfer, with Manchester United believed to be open to letting the Frenchman go for a transfer fee of £50 million.

Apart from PSG, Barcelona is also expected to make a move for Pogba. Barca president Joan Laporta is eyeing a “beast” signing to stun the “media” and the name that stood out as a potential target at the moment is Pogba.

Should Pogba insist on a move away from Manchester United, an earlier report said Solskjaer would fancy bringing in Lyon’s Houssem Aouar as a suitable alternative.

However, the Red Devils would have competition for Aouar’s signature as the midfielder has a number of suitors, including their English Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.
